Case Study: InsightGraphics at Info-Tech Research Group
Info-Tech Research Group is an IT advisory and consultancy firm located in Canada and the US. After only a few short months employed at Info-Tech, I was assigned my first special project.

Info-Tech Research Group
Problem Statement
The research process at Info-Tech was extremely comprehensive to the point where research was exploding in size. My first two pieces of research exceeded 300 pages, and one colleague I was hired with produced his first piece of research at a total of over 400 pages. These research pieces were fantastic for folks who had no idea about a specific IT project, but for many, the research was borderline unusable due to its sheer size. I noticed this immediately and proposed a new research tool that would help make our research much more consumable - the InsightGraphic.
Solution Implemented
The InsightGraphic was simply an InfoGraphic that presented an executive summary of our research in one image. I proposed that we used an external freelancing talent for the prototype run of 25 InsightGraphics and took the lead on the project - with three other front-line analysts to help out and a $25,000 budget. Over the Christmas break, when the office was closed, I shepherded 25 projects with freelancers worldwide.
Below is an example of an InsightGraphic for my second piece of research at Info-Tech. You can see a sample of the derivative research in the gallery below.

Results Achieved
The InsightGraphics were very well received by clients, with over 100 submitting compliments about the tool between January and March of 2014 alone. I also ensured that a template was produced and the research process was altered so consultants and analysts would have responsibility for their own research's InsightGraphics moving forward.
Personally, the biggest impact for me was when I was speaking with a client, and she mentioned how fast my InsightGraphic "taught" me the process of selecting an ERP system. This was an epiphany for me since it dawned on me that consulting was really learning design but with a more tailored twist.
